Well, this is as far as College and other matters allowed us to go. It was a fun and very interesting week. I wish the best luck to all participants and I hope everyone had as much fun as we did. I have uploaded the latest build of the game. There are some stuff here and there that need to be fixed, but at this point we are exhausted. I hope that you guys find it as much fun as we did.

To play the game, download it from the link provided, after downloaded, unzip it and open the executable. You must make sure that the exe file is in the same folder as the data folder.

Right, at last, this should be my final entry for the competition:

Powerthief (v1.1)

(It turned out, by the way, that the problem wasn't that I had forgotten to include the sound files, but rather that I'd forgotten to include OpenAL. This has now been rectified, I believe. On the plus side, I had worried a bit that FMod (I think that it was) might have been used by default, and this does seem to argue against that.)

[edit]

I've edited my journal entry with the new version too

@riuthamus: I just tried your game and I found a couple of issues.

- The models of the soldiers you hit sometimes stay visible after you've killed them.

- When you hold Up + Left/Right + Shift + Right mouse, you will glide very fast without showing a walking animation.

- You can't attack the pig. (Not an issue, I'm was just disappointed wink.png)

Thanks, those issues no longer exist, you are playing an older build. Ill be posting the new one in 3 hours.

The build is a littler large ~60Mb because of the wave sound bank, I need to find a solution to shrink it unsure.png ...

Have you looked at compressed formats?

Wow, you are awesome, I'm using Microsoft XACT, and didn't crossed my mind it has also compression features until you told me about, I actually had in mind to cut my waves to a shorter length, but now is all OK, from 60 MB Audio file to 4.72 MB, thank you biggrin.png.

Here is the updated build from Day 6 with compressed audio: http://gamedevis.cool/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/gamedevis-Death-is-Useful-Day-61.zip (8.7 MB)

If you find the time, please tell me if the audio starts ok and if the quality seems to be good enough.

My probably final entry is up

Wow, I love it, so many levels , I like the progressive difficulty, I actually stoped at the 'Construction Site' level because I realized I have to finish my game also smile.png), but surely I will come back and try to master it biggrin.png.

This will probably be my final version, and if its not, the link will stay the same:

Your welcome, The audio sounds not notch to me cool.png

I like the art style smile.png

And here is a "final" build of my game, I've called it "Chaotic Ball Carnage" as that seamed fitting when there were a lot of enemies.

I've also improved the performance by recomputing the rendering command buffers on most entities.

I was wondering if someone would like to see how many enemies that can have on the map and for it to still run fast enough to play.

You just need to press the "K" key a couple of times, The enemy count is on the top left window, And GPU/CPU utilisation would be nice.

-Edit-

Are the entries going to be bundled up into one archive like last time?
