Week of Awesome III

My second post is up, with some screenshots of how the art has developed and some notes on what's implemented.

Pushing to add the last steps, but it isn't going to be easy with the time I have left...

It is just about finished, Just some pollishing left to do.

Fun fact: There are about 60 __debugbreak calls still in there :)

Here's my post for yesterday. http://www.gamedev.net/blog/2103/entry-2261423-day-5-power-ups-progression-and-defeat/

Not much time left to do all the things I want to do! But I'm enjoying the game :D

Radiant Verge is a Turn-Based Tactical RPG where your movement determines which abilities you can use.

Whoops! I don't think that I ever tested that! ^^;

Thank you for mentioning this bug--I'll hopefully have it fixed in the next version. This also makes a nice little object-lesson in the value of external testing, I do believe! happy.png

[edit] Indeed, I believe that I have it fixed.

I'll hopefully be releasing two more builds today: The first is intended to be a "first-pass" build, including visuals, music and sound, but few changes to the gameplay; this build would stand should I not produce the second build. The second is intended to be my final submission build; what it includes--and whether it's released at all--may depend on how things go today.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Here's my thread where I explain how I will be unofficially judging this year's entries.

http://www.gamedev.net/blog/2108/entry-2261430-ecks-unofficial-judging-officially-explained/

I'll even be awarding a prize or two:
The team with the highest score gets a copy of Firefly or this week's Humble Bundle - Winner's Choice. I'll also give out keys to my Floating Combat Text asset to the top 3 Unity Teams.

Today I'll be digging through journal entries, setting up my google scoring spreadsheet, testing alphas, and grading any submissions marked as "final". Stay tuned!

Tip from your Uncle Eck:

If you haven't already submitted a copy of your game, DO IT NOW! You can always submit a more polished game later. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE! The internet goes out, there are power failures, there are time-zone misunderstandings, gamedev.net goes down every so often, etc. And see if you can get a real judge to test your game ahead of time to make sure there are no prerequisites you're missing. Finding that out AFTER the deadline is more than a little disheartening.

Hey guys! I've missed the journal post on day 5 because I was busy implementing music. Which was much harder than I thought.

Here is my journal entry for day 6:

Hi Guys,

I finally have a version uploaded for people to try. The link is in my journal for the day: http://www.gamedev.net/blog/2098/entry-2261434-woa-iii-day-6-playable/

All the details are in the blog post but just briefly. There is very little level content, the screenshot above is the only level!, and there are quite a few missing features. I hope to add a couple of levels and finish up the last major content tomorrow before my final upload.

Please give the download a try, give me your feedback, and most importantly let me know if it starts up. I have not distributed any of my own personal projects before!
