I think you would get a huge amount of ojections to that game idea, considering what Christans actually did to indigenous populations in south america. It would be a bit like making a game about WWII where Nazi''s worked out their differences with the Jews and lived in peace and harmony.

And there are objections to games that depict crime as a goal, or show excessive violence, language, or nudity. But each of those has a niche and makes money there.

Also the amount of objection really depends on how you present it. You would want to balance it so that there are good and evil conquistadors, as well as good and evil monks.

The book and movie "Schindler''s List" shows that even a hedonistic german can be moved by the plight of the Polish Jews and end up saving thousands of lives. There were objections raised for this but it was very successful nonetheless.

Well does it have to be a Christian relgion protrayed? I think it would be kind of cool if you devoloped a new story for a religion, and made the main characters playout the story of sorts.

Go to war again, blood is freedom''s stain, But don''t you pray for my soul anymore.

I''m not aware of that specifically, but there were objections to Spielberg choosing this protagonist instead of a Jewish one. An example: "And what of the millions who perished sans hope or rescue? Who shall speak for them a century from today, if Spielberg''s cheering account of Schindler''s metamorphosis eclipses other works?"

Similarly, some people object to anyone speaking of Christian good fearing that it will eclipse accounts of evil. I doubt that they are opposed to Christian good, but I suspect that they have an agenda. However, the Christian niche has its own agenda and welcomes supporting accounts.

Uhm, you are aware that Schindler''s List is Based On A True Story(TM), right?

I think Heaven, Eden, and Hell could be interesting and visually impressive environments. This is from a post of mine from a old thread:

How about the setting of Milton''s Paradise Lost? I''m not too familiar with the Bible, but I''m referring to the time period when Satan and some other angels are cast down to Hell and Adam and Eve are created (Genesis, maybe?). The elements here that interest me are Heaven (paradise in the clouds), Eden (garden/nature paradise), Hell (subterranean, pools of lava), and the angels and demons. I don''t want to rip off the actual named characters from the Bible (God, Satan, Adam, Eve, etc.). I think it *would* be cool to rip off the actual hierarchy of angels [http://www.paranormality.com/celestial_hierarchy.shtml].

Yes of course. It is obvious to me that the person I cited here was suggesting a different story along with a different protagonist, but you probably didn''t bother reading his review.

And there is no good Christian media? JRR Tolkien was a Christian, and at many points in The Lord of the Rings there are big arrows pointing towards it.
Like, there is not only the war between good and evil on the outside, but also on the inside (Frodo & the Ring, the Steward of Gondor and the Palintir while the battle oudside rages on).

see reading into it too much .

tolkien said himself that there was no religious themes or agendas in his books, and that he hated allegory and such. so any "christian elements" you might see in LoTR are completely hallucinated by christians trying to validate their opinions... i just recently reread the silmarillion , and in one of the included letters to his buddy he stated that he was trying to invent a mythology for england, because the whole king arthur mythology was too tied up in christianity for his tastes, and he wanted something else as a background for his books.

yes he was a christian, but that doesn''t mean he couldn''t write about something else.

As a fellow Christian game developer, mainly what I have to say is don''t be discouraged. You could create virtually any game using a Christian perspective, but it would be easier to do this indirectly as others have stated.

What kind of titles have you worked on? Do you have any suggestions on gameplay, for an fps (first person game) that doesnt involve killing?
