.X Maya exporter problems

I'm working on a game project that uses .X models, I'm using Maya8.5 and have the cvXporter (I think it's 1.2 but I can't really remember now) When I rig the model and move into into position, make an animation test and export it out, it is all diformed in the DX SDK Viewer. I;ve used another viewer and it does the same. maya When it's exported an animated, this is what it looks like in the SDK viewer... viewer It exports fine when the 'skinning' is unchecked...obviously I need that checked to export animated skeletal models. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I'm at the very edge of suggesting the coders switch to Collada but thats time they don't really want to spend on writing code they already have :( Cheers.

Collada is going to be a PITA for them :-) Assimp loads both Collada and .X (and a lot more), but the Collada side is still restricted to static models. Will get better in the future, hopefully.

Sorry for this sidetracking. Concerning your problem: it might be a case of pivot points. I'm on the coder side, I can only repeat what I remember from our artist's complaints. They told me that setting the pivot points in Maya wasn't exported at all - both in .X and in Collada. They had to actually place the transformations of each model to where it belongs, and leave the pivot points at (0, 0, 0) in relation to that.

Hope that gives you an idea. Unfortunately I can't give more details.

Sadly I'm still having problems, I followed the advice given but the problem still seems to exist.

If theres any art developers out that that use maya and export to .X I'd love to hear from you.

Cheers.

Not sure how this got put in Help Wanted, but I'm moving it to the Visual Arts Forum.

Cheers!
