Creating bump/normal maps
Can someone explain how the bump maps and normal maps are created from textures? I attempted to create some bump maps and normal maps using photoshop filters and nVidia plugin for photoshop to convert the bump map to the normal map. But I failed, the texture with the normal map applied doesn't look good. I tried searching for information on the internet, but didn't find any good information.
What book would you recommend which would explain the bump/normal map creation?
