Collaborative Game Story Survey
How about:
1) Humans are extremely adaptable (over 10,000 years they've adapted into two different races, and now you the player may try to catch up with them so you can fit into their society.)
2) Diversity is good for society - in a mixed technological and magical society everyone can find a path through life suited to them and benefits from having neighbors with different skills and abilities. Adding old-style humans back into this mix makes it more diverse because they have a different cultural perspective.
That brings us back to star trek, but at least star trek is _fun_.
Edit:
3) You can find love anywhere, even 10,000 years in the future and with someone of a very different race.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.
Gamedev dosen't own my idea of having two races, one spiritual in nature the other very techlogicly advanced does it? Since it is being used in this game story. If so can you give me back my right to use it without removing the idea from this story.
thank you.

off topic,

No no, that idea is too general for anyone to own, I'm sure there are lots of games already that have a magical race and a technological race.

Quote:relax, we haven't got to the scary parts yet...
o.O No offense but you guys are kind of scary
Yea, it might be too depressing to present the guilt part from the beginning, but I don't see why it should be excluded from the plot. The situation is like children going to a multiethnic school, and they discovered that generations ago, child A's grandfather and child B's grandfather were enemies and they hated each other and were killing each other.
If I were a defrosted cryo, one of my major question would be why I got defrosted, after so many years. The two races occupying the planet are both superior right? Why defrost me? Why now?
For example, define arbitrary female Cryo Crystal, and a male Spiritual Lozoro. Crystal got defrosted and she was with Lozoro all the time, they fell in love. But then, other cryos started telling Crystal that the human race was destoryed by the Spirituals. Although her cryo friends didn't know why they were defrosted, they believed that the intention must be evil, and they should stick together. So here follows conflicts about race, trust, and love and such. The middle of the plot can involve Crystal believing the official view that a meteor hit earth and the second ice age that followed made human extinct, or that human race invaded other planets, or that human race destoryed themselves, or other happier scenarios that do not involve one race nuking the other. If the spiritual indeed destoryed the human race, given the power, will Crystal punish them? Or will she forgive them? At the same time, Crystal will also discover the truth about the Techno and the reason they evolved separately.
Here comes the scary twist, cover your eyes!
The twist is that spirituals do not exist. Nor the human race. Human race indeed got extincted. All were left were fragments of dead bodies that an exploration team (Techno) recovered. The techno resurrected the minds of the human race, and they were impressed by their imaginations and their will to survive. The spiritual race is a composite of Cryo ideals that populated the dreamworld. The techno, beings from very different dimensions, adopted a believable humanoid form to interact with the resurrected minds to observe the changes of the dreamworld, which reflects the collective believes of the Cryos. How will the Cryo minds transform the dreamworld, the very definition of their ideals? Will these cryo minds turn the dreamworld into a nightmare, convincing the Techno that the human race were savages that deserved extinction? Or will they uphold their ideals and convince the Techno that the human race is a kind hearted race that deserves a second-chance of existance?
a lot of violations, like saving the world, but at least Crystal doesn't know she is doing it, so maybe that is ok.
:/
And on the light and positive side...
Crystal woke up from a dream. It was a dream about an angel, about someone that loved her, someone that she loved. The angel in her dream looked like Michael. It must be him, or at least she believed that it was him, her deceased fiance, who lost his life in a firefight. She put his picture in her arms as she recollected about the dream. She could remember him speaking to her, kissing her one last time, and smiling peacefully, as he flew away. She wept. But her tears were different. They were no longer tears of sorrow, but tears of closure, from a goodbye that she had not received for two years.
And then Crystal saw a new neighbor moving in next door as she went out. The neighbor introduced himself, his name was Lozoro.
Of course there is a scary twist too...
that Lozoro is married.

I don't think that we should fall into that battle and theme of whether humanity is good enough to be a part of some alien society or that question that all Sci-Fi novelist seem to address, "How would aliens view us?" So cliche and so agonizing.
There are so many mixed views on the subject I suggest we avoid it altogether.
The reason why they woke us up will be simply say an accident. They were either mining or digging somewhere or the cryo bed emmitted some low level radiation that was being investigated and they accidently triggered a awakening process to be started. We could also have it so that there are a number of different cryo facilities in different areas and they were triggered accidentally. Some of the humans died but only a few survived the regneration cycle. Say some will survive only a little while after being awoken say the first few.
But there might be some humans that were fozen say around nowadays where the technology is not stable enough to unfreeze them or those with diseases wouldn't be able to be saved. Also some should even be unforzen on purpose.
I don't that that it should be a dream or a test. I think it should be real as life is real the outcome of the test of life only comes after death therefore we shouldn't try to test the user on whether they believe that humanity is worth enough to be accepted by an alien race. The spiritual race would accept the humans simply because their religion and beliefs dictat love for all life and the Technos would because the humans are an intriguing piece of legend and some Techno 'historians' would care to know the beginnings of their one society.
I also suggest that the Technos and Spiritual races had formed from humanity 'evolved from', being that humans expanded into other worlds and flew through out the cosmos and settle on many planets therefore giving eventual hope that a strand of unevolved humans still exist for those cryo-stasis survivors to perhaps seek out if they so desire it. That would be another possible ending.
I don't know all the endings we have attempted to come up with but here are some.
Propsed Endings So Far:
-Main Character (who the user is playing) decides to stay with either the Technos or Spritual races on 'New Earth'
-Same as the above except falls in love
-Decides to seek out the last remnants of similar humans
-Main Character Dies from a cryo disease.
Those are the only ones I could come up with so far.
1) how would we interpret our own ideals if it is realized? does an ideal world require to be a stable world?
2) is it possible to classify a race being good or evil based on how they treat their ideals? is it a valid test?
3) if the test is valid, who should interpret the outcome? who should be the judge?
One question about Techno being historians. The human societies that the cryos are from are not pre-historic societies. Why would the Techno, evolved from humans, lose these records?
So the idea is that human were able to colonize on other planets, and one of those colony evolved into Spiritual and the other evolved into Techno. After many years the two races came back to earth and at the same time uncovered their common ancestor. What do you think should happen the first time Spirituals and Technos meet? What should happen when they discovered that they were from the same origin? How would you, the Cryo, think about the situation?
Is this an analogy of seeing your own children grown up? What theme can you get out of the situation?
[Edited by - Estok on September 4, 2004 1:22:29 AM]
So for the colonists who seperated from earth and those that wandered the galaxies there would be no reason for them to return to earth. Especially with the beauty of the universe they would be more concerned about spreading and finding all the wonders in store for them in the universe. Of course their would be some who would travel to earth now and then and those that would keep records of the past but eventually they would be distorted and covered and disbelieved.
And your treating the races as though they are all alike every single individual alien like humans has their own thought their own ideas and their own 'will'. The sanctity of life is the moral by which we all will be judged there is no need for an examination of that. Did we live as well as we could not through our own eyes but through the eyes of the one thing that ties us all together whether were aliens or humans those with free will can overcome the natural instincts that makes us ordinary barbarian creatures and learn to love. You shall be judged by 'love' and love alone. If you don't understand what I mean then you will never know quiet how to live your life.
I don't think it should be a question of good and evil but perhaps one or two of the characters could have that conflict. To me evil is simply the absence of good...evil is there to blind you from seeing the truth or from loving truly loving...
My definition of love is giving of yourself without expecting anything in return.
Perhaps I should write the story for the spirituals...?
And you can try to look at things the logical way through the Technos or your three rules point of view...But in the end we must agree...agreed
:P

Forgot the tail and the island is drawn horribly and the wings are crap. That an a whole crap load of other bad things.
The face is crap and the tail sucks and I can't draw hands if you haven't already noticed and the cryo tube is pretty bland.
nothings set in stone but its just one possible visualization.
