I’ve been putting a lot of thought into the textures for my dungeon crawler. This is a screen recording showing one of the possibilities I’m exploring:
Basically, these textures are pixel art scaled up using this open-source tool.
I actually desaturated the textures too (ie. made them greyscale) so they could be recolored in the material. Here’s a few tints:



Even if this isn’t exactly the ideal look I’d want, this may be a good way for the game to move forward. After all, I have lot of unused pixel art packs sitting around, and I could always replace these textures later by like hiring a vector artist on fiverr. And I don’t want to get bogged down on this step, so that I can finish the rest of the game before polishing levels and such.
