Hi everyone!
I've been experimenting with the multiplayer features in Godot and was impressed by the ease of implementation for implementing multiplayer. I would like to start a new project that aims to bring together artists, animators, game designers, level designers, and software developers to create a community-driven platform for developing multiplayer games using the Godot Engine.
Godot is a free, open-source game engine that offers impressive features for creating both local and online multiplayer games.
My goal is to create a collection of reusable game assets, scripts, and frameworks that will enable anyone to quickly create and play multiplayer games with their friends, similar to Roblox and M.U.G.E.N but with complete control of what kind of game you want to play with your friends and the characters that you created
Throughout the process, I hope to:
- Learn from experienced Godot developers and multiplayer game creators
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and programmers to bring ideas to life
- Grow a library of game assets, scripts, templates, that people can use to create their personal game
- Contribute to the development of a versatile, community-driven multiplayer framework with Godot
- Thoroughly document the latest features of the framework so it can be picked up without too much difficulty
I've created a GitHub repository at https://github.com/eextreme/GodotMultiplayerSandbox which implemented a bare bones multiplayer game.
I hope to create a framework that will work for as many people as possible. If you are interest you can join my discord server at https://discord.com/invite/ZaBraWpf and we can start from there
