People really have no ideas on game development.

@EmmersionStudios I never claimed to know so much or be better than anyone, I was trying to make the community know that they are falling short and can do much better than they realize.

Who do you thinks falls short? AAA, indie, hobby-elite or hobby-kids? All of them?

And HOW to do better? Saying you can do better is worth nothing without any advise but just critique.

Proof yourself and apply to the next GameDev Challenge. They run 2 moths or so? See how brilliant you are against real competition.

Most of the Hobbyist/indie devs. Let them know that they can be like Sakisa, have that fierce determination, iron will, disregard the assumptions.

Ok, so we should stop building smaller games than the big guys with their millions. We should do the impossible - copy them, and show them that we can do almost the same almost as good... yeah!

Great idea... brilliant... I can make my own GTA... never thought of it!

I really thought Frictional Games would be my personal heroes, for inventing a new genre, creating a game that makes Resident Evil feel as frightening as a Barbie doll. Or Minecraft, another new genre, generating billions by giving kids opportunity to create...

But you're right! Sakisa is my new hero! I will create clones from each of his games, and they will be almost as good! Because i can. Thanks for telling me, for letting me know what i might be capable of... got it.

Now... maybe... it's time you learn a bit from us as well.

@Sprotz - Just do it mate. You could have made your first AAA GTA5 clone by now since starting this thread.

Guys, I think you're being really mean to @sprotz

The guy clearly knows his stuff. Sometimes it takes an outsider, visionary genius to show the people with actual knowledge, skill and experience how wrong they are.

We all know in our hearts the game industry is a scam to keep developers, artists, etc employed on these massive projects when in reality, they could be churning out a few AAA titles a month.

It's only due to the benevolence of the likes of EA, Activision, Bethesda etc that we have AAA games at all!

Maybe he could team up with @Kavik Kang.

if you think programming is like sex, you probably haven't done much of either.-------------- - capn_midnight

I remember this guy. Isn't he living next door to Notch now?

@lonewolff I'm not going to make a GTA 5 clone. I'm going to make an enjoyable action adventure game with decent 3D graphics. But these people seem to be on a completely different wavelength. They think that they should make a carbon copy of GTA 5 when actually  they are simply told to make enjoyable 3D, or 2D games with good story and missions. they seem to be calling a genre a clone.

I plan to develop a 3D GTA style game with a Flintstones theme...

That's your other problem. You keep chopping and changing plans. Pick one and start.

Nothing would be more inspiring than for you to prove us all wrong. If you can make a AAA quality game in one month, like you are boasting, I will forever bow down to you.

I haven't even read this thread, just got the notification that you used my name and read this one post.

If he's been designing games for over 40 years, since before your industry even existed, maybe that might work.  Somehow I doubt it though.  But if he has... he is certainly far more competent than any of you amateurs.

I am still 3 full generations ahead of you and your "Candyland" knowledge of simulation design.  Still so far ahead of you that what I do is literally "indistinguishable from magic" too you.  It's hilarious to see you still attacking me even though I haven't posted in months.  You must still be psychologically hurting from not even being capable of understanding what your betters, who have been designing games since before your industry even existed, know that you have proven incapable of even understanding.

HINT: It's those 40 years and 3 generations of simulation design that make these things true.  That, and the fact that you are the most arrogant and incompetent group of people to ever walk the face of the earth.  Arrogance combined with incompetence... Can you think of a more annoying combination than that?  That's EXACTLY who you incompetent morons are... thank you for demonstrating that again for me.

I've seen all kinds of games people develop and post on app stores and indie game sites. What I noted is the lack of original ideas and innovation. Lots of games that look that they are developed by seven year olds, too many 2D side scroller mario clones, too many sonic clones, and a lot of stolen assets or plainly drawn graphics. Few games have original characters but they are also 2d side scrollers with exact mario style gameplay. For the few 3d games, most are FPS zombie shooters, also with stolen assets, many models with no animation. I see a lot of android games with the "made with unity" logo at the start. Obvious glitches and poor mechanics that the developers don't bother fixing, and a whole lot of ads.

For me I have brilliant Ideas that I have got planned for 28 games I intend to develop. Most of them will be 3D and many will be AAA kind of games. Something few developers have done on the hobbyist / indie stage.

So you plan on making on making 28 games, most of them being AAA? How freaking unrealistic does that look? Why not just try to focus on one first and try to make it the best you can instead?

And everyone is an "idea person", the actual talent it takes to make these ideas a reality is entirely another matter. You can never know in advance what will work and what will not.

Just the fact that a single AAA game usually requires a large team of experienced people, and several years of work to create them makes your claim totally ridiculous. You might get lucky and make a couple of them that are of that quality out of your 28 over maybe 50 years.

I call troll on this one.
