Thats funny I thought that we were all human.
I never said we weren't. I said "culture."
Culture varies by location and ethnicity. Cultures are not all the same.
quote:
But I sense that you feel that there are fundamental differences between black/white/asian people ??
Not biologically or anything like that, but sociologically - which is an extension of the cultural identity. A child is socialized according to the norms of his/her culture, not ethnicity. That means that different negro cultures will have different responses to the exact same stimulus due to the differences in socialization.
quote:
Remember the question was not about different cultures but only different skin colors/races.
So it was the wrong question. I answer the right - and I assume implied - one.
quote:
And why would that make a difference big enough for a "white" designer to go that way ?
It wouldn't. Which is why I said "if you want something done, do it yourself." Don't blame white/asian designers for writing white/asian stories with white/asian leads. Do your own thing.
quote:
I don't like the original question because it implies that people who do games with white characters are racists !!
Possibly, and I really think that's silly. There is nothing racist about identifying with your own culture and your own audience. You even agree with my pursuant statement:

Reply by granat: I agree and there is nothing wrong with that.

yes, yes, Oluseyi.....you have finally discovered the secret. This is yet another means for the white man to hold down the minorities......damn I though you would never find out.
Your sarcasm seems to be a reflection of your own insecurities. If you read
and pondered on my post (the pondering being the critical part), you would realize that I think people writing/casting strictly their own groups is perfectly normal.
quote:
I swear, if minorities get their way it is called equality. If the minority dont get their way it is called racism. Just because you dont get what you want doesnt mean it is being kept from you because of racism.
That's a larger and more complex issue than you think. Within the confines of gaming, probably. In society as a whole, however, there's more to it. That, however, is not the thrust of this debate. IMO "minorites", as you call them, need to control their own images rather than ask other entities to accurately reflect them.
That is impossible.
quote:
If you want a game with a minority as the lead character, then by all means you make the damn game.
- Me, nicely paraphrased by you.
