I had a girlfriend until last Saturday.

Now I have a fiancée [grin]

haha, i was about to post the same, replacing saturday with monday...

i can't bring myself to call her "my fianceé" though because ironically it makes me sound a bit gay, so she's just "the missus"
I'm married with two kids now. My wife and I met back when we were working at a coffee shop together. She took me home one night and I invited her in for some Halo. Everything started rolling from there [wink]

I've been married for >8 years. I never managed to get very far making games myself, but I do play games when time (and children) permit. My wife isn't a hardcore gamer, but does enjoy casual Wii and DS games, and did get through Marvel Ultimate Alliance herself.
There's a problem with the original post. It's pretty much a survey which falls victim to self-selection bias.
Haven't posted here in ages...

I don't have one currently but I met someone nice a while back and might pursue it when I go back to University in September. Have had plenty of women fall at my feet but I don't feel like I want a girlfriend, I value my freedom too much and still, at the age of 22, my friends are hopelessly immature and think the thought of me having a relationship is some kind of sick joke and such a scenario occurred as recently as last Friday night about which I am still fuming. I also have hangups about introducing the ladyfriend to my parents :S
I have one. It's alright.

My girlfriend is more of a gamer than I am, though not in the ways you might think. Her fervor is as intense, but she plays variations of The Sims most intently. Hates The Sims 3 so far so went back to The Sims 2, but still plays by email with her Sim friend. Plays games on Facebook, plays downloadable games, maxes out the strategy on various socially-oriented games (Kudos, etc)...

Me? I occasionally plop SF4 or Bionic Commando: Rearmed into the PS3, and that's about it. She'll play SF4 with me, but since she doesn't learn the moves it's all button mashing with her and I beat her almost all of the time. She loves Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, though.

I have a fiance' who is almost (but not quite) as much a gamer as I am.
Games, comic books, Star Wars...these used to be all sure ways to live a single life for guys but somewhere along the line it became cool for the ladies to be into them too.

It isnt the dark ages anymore.

Its not that games are repellent to girls (there are many girl gamers out there), its the general personality of guy gamers is pretty introverted. Look at the guys that do have girlfriends. Most of them have lots of other friends and regularly get involved with group activities. You can't meet anybody if you stay and home all the time or don't talk to people.

From personal experience I don't do the 'girlfriend' thing anymore. I do the 'friends with benefits' thing now, of which I have two. So much easier and cheaper when you know exactly what the invovlement with each other is. Do have a daughter from an ex who lives with me because her mom is a complete nutter. Maybe when I get older I might look for another relationship. As for now I have to much of my own stuff going on to have to deal with somebody elses baggage too.
