Why hello there, I'm new to these parts of town and as this is my field I thought I'd post a topic here. After playing Mirror's Edge I had a thing or two to say about the way the story was implemented into the game experience. So I wrote an article. It's still rough around the edges and I will edit it but I thought I'd post a WIP here for you all to see. Click link to download .rtf format. It delves fairly deep into the marriage of narrative and gameplay and covers the entire game. Just over two pages so not too long of a read. Cheers. Edit by sunandshadow: to link to things in this forum you must use an a href tag. [Edited by - sunandshadow on December 9, 2008 3:05:57 PM]
sorry for the double reply, but after I finished it and showed is as a WIP on another forum I got an offer to write for a small game news site.
I finished the article and now it's featured on the front page in the slideshow.

Click for link.

HTML, got it :)

The aftermath.

I decided to send the link to DICE as useful feedback.
I got a response:

Subject: Article on Mirror's Edge's Interactive Narrative

Dear Mr/Mrs,

(to whom it may concern)

I'm Isaak Kraft van Ermel, 19, Dutch and next to following Communication & Multimediadesign I do freelance writing.

I aspire to work in the game industry as game designer and/or narrative director.

Recently I've written an article about Mirror's Edge Interactive Narrative, in this article I give my opinion and critique on this particular aspect of the game and explore new ways to apply it into a game like this.

You can read it when following this link: http://neocrisis.com/content/view/3192/38/

Consider it feedback, you may do whatever you want with it.

Thanks in advance for reading it.

Regards,

Isaak
