Musicians: Advice for web hosting?
I'm looking to put my best foot forward and plow my way into the game audio industry, come hell or high water. One of the many steps I'll need to take is finding a reliable and relatively inexpensive web host. I'm on MySpace and SoundClick, but I think it's time to get a little more professional and get my own dedicated domain name.
For those that have their own have websites, do you have any recommendations? All I need is a relatively small site to host some streaming MP3's, a few graphics here and there, and my contact information. How much should I reasonably expect to pay for something like that?
Thanks,

Hi Brian,
I cannot give any advice on hosts in the US, but here in the Netherlands I pay 10 euro's (around 14 dollar) a month and it gives me a good package without any problems. I got for that price 6 domains I can host (did this for friends and my wife), 20gb of streaming date and 1 gigabyte of space to upload my music and stuff to. Because I had some extra features I might be paying a bit more then a normal package.
I hope this part helps a bit and that somebody else can give some good recommendations for a US webhost :)
Good luck!

Hey Brian, I use Cartika Hosting, and I pay $15.00 a month and it includes 15 gigs of bandwidth usage per month, as well as a 750mb limit. What a like about them is that they have excellent customer service (can deal with them via Instant Messenger at any time) and they help migrate / setup and troubleshoot your site. They also allow me to use databases (Mysql) and php, and I have ftp or their web file manager access. I'm really pleased with them and have used them for the past 4 years. I wouldn't go with anyone else.
for my webdomain subscription, I use godaddy.com
Hope this helps!

I use 1and1.com and pay $60 for an entire year. SUPER cheap! I get great hosting, FTP access and very good bandwidth. Check them out- and if you do go with them use me as a referral! :) I've been a happy customer of theirs for the past three years now.

Thanks for the tip, Nathan! I remember checking out your site a few weeks ago and noting how spiffy it is. Did you hire someone to build it, or did you use some kind of Flash template? If I go with them I'll definitely use you as a referral.

It was a template that I heavily modified. I know some about web design but am mostly a hack. I just try stuff out over and over until it works. :)
