Quote:Original news from distrowatch.com ..Also the NVIDIA or the fglrx/ATI display driver can be chosen during installation to replace the default display driver..
Damn, Im gonna give simplyMEPHIS a try!!!
You are NOT going to get OpenGL hardware acceleration with that! Unless I did somethig wrong (or unless Eternal Lands has a big problem).
Damn... too bad, the how do people handle to play doom 3 on linux???? perhaps by means of compiling the drivers manually (linking the kernel includes and such)????
Quote:Original post by zer0wolf I haven't personally used it, but Ubuntu seems to be a rather cool distro. It starts with Debian, fits all the most popular packages with it, set specific regular release dates, and promote a very strong community. You might want to check it out.
I have a friend who uses this, he loves it. :)

They use Nvidia cards, I guess. Although I heard some people having some degree of success with getting SOME ATI cards to work.
ATI released updated drivers a few weeks ago. We now have working hardware accelerated OpenGL for X.org 6.8 (the latest version), even in 64-bit mode (x86_64). (Running Gentoo ~amd64, X.org 6.8.2, ATI drivers 8.10.19 with a Radeon 9600 256 MB; Unreal Tournament 2004 works like a charm.)

Yes, but can you run XComposite at the same time?

To Raduprv > Is memphis a live-cd only distro (not that I dislike it, at all), because I cant find a normal install cd iso on any of the mirrors, only the simplymemphis live cd, or is it maybe that it isnt a live cd, just an install cd (just like gentoos live cd that really isnt in the sense youd expect)???
So I don't have to read through your whole post, Raduprv, which linux distro do you think is the best ever? Casually looking for one with no effort atm.
