Hey Blade Runner I''m glad you liked the pic. Funny what you said though because this pic never touched any kind of paper - it was all drawn (or should I say -sketch-) with a tablet.
Hey wolfmanyoda: if you duplicate the hair, shouldnt it take no more RAM, except at render time? (i know 3dsmax do anyway...)

I don''t know about 3DMax, I can''t afford it.
I did it with Strata3D and duplicating it really sucks the RAM away.
It''s really rediculous, because the head and neck came out as a few thousand polys, but when I added the hair it jumped to over 51000, which is crazy.
I''m sure there''s a better way to do it, but since I''m so new to this I don''t know what that way is

I have never used Strata 3d but I''m pretty sure you can fake transparency with alpha channel For texture. Just go into photoshop and draw something that would look like hair with the airbrush (or your favorite technique). I''ve included a sample of how it should look (this has been done very quickly, tho).
Then just do some variants for different "hairstyles". (Make ''em more curved, for example) Place a box with enough polygons to bend it into a very smooth curve and apply the texture map in your opacity channel. You should make a variant adjusting contrast and place it in the specularity channel (which strata3d should have too)...
Hope this have been of some help!
(There are a couple of step-by-step tutorials on the web on how to do this too)

My first photoshop drawing; I scanned it, got tips from Niko's page on how to cell paint or whatever, and got it done in 5 hours.
-Keep in mind it was my first work, so dont laugh...
And here is a logo I made for my company and web page...
All stuff copyright me... etc.

This is a 2000 poly model created with MAX,
There is a high res version at the site and other images as well, including the texture sheets
The site has just been updated...
it''s being 640x480, however, it is compressed.
There''s other stuff at my site of course...
Anyone visits, please let me know what you think!
Well there you go...
