Just because ghouls start appearing from the netherworld doesn't mean you can now teach a shoe to speak spanish. ;)

Your example is a little more extreme than what I was talking about. The point is, you are making a game. The #1 goal is entertainment, so if using pencils as lethal stabbing weapons in a school setting enhances the gameplay, so be it. Of course, you may want to be more realistic, and stick with baseball bats, kitchen knives, and broken bottles. More power to you - that is what is great about making your own games.

I was more referring to again the whole "crazy kid made a crossbow" thing... if the player wants to get stabby with pens and pencils, I'm all for that. realism applies mainly in the sense the that the weapons a player will find are weapons he could actually find.

And yes, I am aware that my example was a little extreme... just trying to make a point. hence the ;)

You know, I'd just love to try to beat your game using only a sharpened pencil. Stab stab stab snap. Uh oh.

You know, I could quite easily kill someone with a pencil, and furthermore keep said pencil in such a state as to be reusable. You'd be surprised how good items like this can be - and how weak the human body is if attacked correctly.

Now, what type of highschool is this in? A NYC Highschool, you'd actually find standard firearms between all of the police and the local gangs.

I'm thinking you had some canadian thing in mind where theres a large campus. In which case, the furniture could make nice weaponry if it became broken somehow.

Also, have you given consideration to booby traps? For example, if the power lines are still up, you have outlets everywhere. Leave some textbooks by an outlet, and wrap a paperclip in paper and you have a potential firestarter.

as for the stabby with the pencil, it wouldn't be so recommended for the whole game... there are group dynamics: you are not the only one in the game. Watching a perspective fellow classmate get stabbed in the eye might not bother you, but it might the other PC's... that aside, not all enemies have eyes, or would be slow enough to do that to them.

as for the campus, i was thinking a larger sized one. Maybe two or three floors, designed to be an open campus allowing for multiple buildings. Still a high school, though. its not a first person game, it is top-down perspective (if that's what its called) and the battles take place on a separate screen, from a side-ways perspective.
