maybe a hit list
maybe you have to make the whole plan and all, on your own. you choose the method, materials, escape, coverup, whatever, like a murder sim.
I would NOT buy this game

GTA is different in that most people you kill are actually gang members or police. Sure, sometimes you are ordered to take out a civilian, which is not very nice, but can be "sort-of excused" as an exceptional necessity to your criminal career. But when killing is involved, you mostly focus on scum like yourself.

A game with the primary focus of pointlessly killing, or even worse, slaughtering, mayming, whatever... innocent people by random, is sick.

What next? A "rape" game? Or maybe have rape as a feature in the serial killer game?

apart from what I already said, it blows me away that after 20 posts, I''m the only person to point this out.
actually you weren''t the first person to point it out, because I pointed basically what you said in different words
Disgruntled designers are always the best ones
Why would anyone play a game where they slaughter innocent people? This is not the same as GTA or any average FPS. Like it said in an above post, most of the people killed in these games are fellow crimminals and people deemed more deserving of their fates. But breaking into private homes and murdering innocent families in their sleep, or at dinner, or playing in the back yard? That is lower than curdled bile. Yes, I know there''s the thrill of evading the cops and the stealthy tactics, but you can get the same thrill as a resistance fighter, anti-terrorist agent, etc. Try something like Deus Ex where you can sneak up on people and hack them up to your heart''s content. Your victims here are terrorists and militiant facsists, not soccer moms, working dads, and school kids.
hmmmm...

okay, a game about a serial killer is interesting, but a bit too limited. i have always wanted a game that was like a mix between GTA and the sims, wherein your character exists in the world and all possibilities are open. it wouldn''t be like gta in that all you can really do is drive around and shoot people, and it wouldn''t be like the sims wherein you walk like you''ve got a brick up your ass, but rather somewhere in between. i think that in a game like this serial killing wouldn''t be so bad because, well, let''s face it, serial killers do exist. some people will work for a living, some people will rob. some people will be cops, some will be killers.

this was, actually, my first real game idea, but it has been postponed until i can establish myself as a designer (if possible), because it would be an absolutely immense project and would require a team of professionals. my only hope is that someone else doesn''t get to it first and screw it up completely.
ill find me a soapbox where i can shout it

Ever heard of the expression "Going Postal?" - A games company called Running-With-Scissors heard that and wrote the game titled Postal (and Postal 2). Both were banned due to express violence as you were a disgruntled postal worker killing EVERYONE FOR NO REASON. Oh, and in Postal 1, if you got bored of killing everyone else you could press ''q'' and stick the barrel of a sawn-off shotgun in your mouth and blow your own brains out. "I regret nothing..."

...I mean, come on, people, think about it! We play FPSs all the time...after we shut off the switch, we think nothing more about it. How many people out there ACTUALLY think about games after they turn it off?...

People are always thinking about stuff whether they know about it or not. Sometimes consiously (normal and awake) or sometimes subconsiously (subliminal or while dreaming).

When it comes down to it, you dont really have a choice of what you think about

Exactly.

Nowadays almost every movie and almost every game has some form of killing in it. Don''t you think there is already too much killing in the entertainment industry?

Try doing something different for a change... or at least take what killing you do have in your game and make it go towards something positive and constructive.

Like for example I had an idea for a game just recently where your a rebel freedom fighter that is fighting for a revolution and religious freedom in a war-torn country ruled by a brutal dictator. By the end of the game (and after alot of senseless gunfights and random acts of violence) the main character realizes that by his foolish pride and ambition his actions have caused death and unbearable grief in many broken families across the nation.

If your gonna have death, at least give it some philosophical purpose.

I''m not a very devout christian or very religious at all to say the least but I think the gaming industry as a whole is crying for a game that is morally constructive.

But ofcourse thats just my opinion.

...I know that for the most part your defenses to my argument on why this design sucks is that it is just a joke, but anyway, here I go. The problem with this design is that it isn''t a game. It is bascially a sadistic toy. There is like no interactivity at all in the game besides going from house to house killing people. Wow, that doesn''t get old. And besides just the fact that running from house to house is monotonous, it is also just completly morbid and sick. You can''t take some illness of our society, and glorify it, and call it a game. That would be like making a "game" about a guy that goes from drug dealer to drug dealer buying crack. I think that if you want to turn this into a game, you need to add more challenge and interactivity to it besides just house to house killing and trying to keep away from the cops. I don''t personally know what you should add off the top of my head, but you get the drift of what you need.

As was said before, THIS IS NOT A JOKE! If this game were done right, preferably by myself, it could be a great game, and therefore you cannot judge it, as it is only an idea...so far. Every so often new ideas run through my mind, each one destroying this "monotony" you speak of. Indeed, it is morbid and sick, but so is the character. The character I planned will be a psycho, most likely seeking revenge on those who shoved him in lockers throughout high-school. And good thinking with the crack idea!

Ya, it''d probably have to be an outcast with a hitlist of all the people who made fun of him in high school.

Read the whole topic please.
I liked the comparison with majora''s mask. Where you must choose the right timing...you would first have to stalk the victim in order to find the perfect kill that would leave no witnesses, or the witnesses will be easily overtaken as well. i.e. when the person is walking home from the bar in a drunken haze, like he does every friday night, you could catch him in that dark alley.

Cypher Ae said if you don''t like violent video games, don''t buy them, and I''m glad you wouldn''t buy mine then. But before you go ragging on another violent game, I think you need to have sampled it first. i.e. I think you need to check your math on the "most" people you kill are gang members or police. True, the game can be played this way, but I don''t think I know anybody who has, or would want to. THE PEOPLE ARE MADE OF PIXELS! And I don''t understand how it''s "sick" and "is not very nice" to kill a random civilian. But it''s justified to kill an officer of the law just because he''s shooting at you? And good thinking with the rape idea.

Last I checked, innocent people could be slaughtered in GTA, and if you''re wondering why anyone would play a game like that, maybe you should ask one of the, what?, 10 million or so people who own one of the games. Anti-terrorism game? Who are you? George Bush? Resistance fighter, etc. these ideas are too cliche. And I''m willing to bet that one of the next GTA features backyard bbq''s that can be disrupted, children, and/or some of the other ideas presented here. The game industry is growing up, and it''s time that risks are taken. And good thinking with the "hacking to hearts content" idea. Perhaps I could put a Satisfaction guage in which the more hacking you do, the happier your playable psycho becomes!

What''s that supposed to mean!? Don''t worry, I''m sure that you''ll probably become established and get the idea screwn up before I do. I knew I couldn''t have been the only person who considered this an interesting idea.

...do you play games??? No, I don''t think there is enough killing in the entertainment industry, and I sure as hell hope future screen-writers and game developers don''t feel that way either. Do you expect designers to stop making FPS games with killing, and decide to make games about paintball? Or snowball fights? Or frickin rubber-band wars? ..."Try doing something different"...like making the killing justified and moral, last I checked, pretty much every game out there with killing, the killing was justified. i.e. You''re stopping an alien attack, or terrorists, or crazy f**kers who are shooting at you, and you must defend yourself. I think that this idea would be different, because it isn''t moral! You''re freedom fighter idea is somewhat cliche, ever tryed any MGS titles? They are not exactly like that, so go ahead and make your game. Last I checked there were plenty of morally constructive games out there. Ever played DDR? Or the Sims? Or any Nascar racing titles? Or any other sports games?

In conclusion...
I think that you people are taking PIXELATED violence too seriously. Games are an escape from reality. A world where things that you would never dream of doing in real life(unless you''re an impressionable columbine student) can come alive. Driving cars on the sidewalk in GTA3 was hella fun, and so was using the katana to decapitate old ladies. The true problem is not the games, it''s the parents who don''t monitor their impressionable kids who buy these games. And I believe that if the child is well in mind, then he should be able to play games like this, despite his age. It''s not the game that turns the person crazy, it''s those missing fibers in his brain that seperate reality from what is projected on a screen. Sorry for the long post, but much needed to be addressed.

DON''T COPY THAT FLOPPY!
----------Invincible intelligence isn't evincible.
Mmmmmm...pixels.

Okay, like a lotta people say (but most people don''t heed), "If you don''t wanna buy it, don''t buy it."

Black & White was so controversial with the churches, all those 50 year old ladies didn''t like it because you ''became'' a god. NO YOU DIDN''T! You played a GAME! And you think those ladies even played games..NO! So why did they care? well, THEY SHOULDN''T! Can''t wait for B&W2 to give them a few new things to complain about!

So, just don''t buy or read or listen to anything about the game if you don''t like it. Warning: Don''t read about Manhunt if you''re a p***y who don''t like violent games! Just tryin to limit these stupid complaints.

I still say this game would be awesome!
