The only game I can think of like that is Postal. I personally played it because it's just nice to go around and kill people for the hell of it. Nowadays, people want more out of their game. Sure back then mindless killing was acceptable and fun but in these times of Jack Thompson, we can't get away with much.

Still if it was done right I still wouldn't play it. There would need to be a backing towards the violence and a great story that actually gives me a motive in killing the people. Just simply saying your a serial killer, go kill, won't do it for me.
ya, I hear ya dude, there should be a good motive and some snappy, attention gripping, hardcore, intensive, nerve shocking plot! make the story very interesting, thus the characteristics of the serial killer should be organized.
Should The serial killer have a time limit set?

There should be a meter. like the kind of meters on TC:streets of New York or GTA, so that way, there is a fear of being arrested or gunned down, just like some serial killers, when the heat hits sky high, the cops will pull out their guns, trying to hunt you down and kill you, thus learning how to be careful, prepared, and aware.

The best part should allow you to grab your victims off the street or in their homes, then you could pick the lock on their cars or any vehicles and pick up the victim, thus throwing them into the trunk and then you can drive anywhere you want(example: abandoned house, building, lot, etc...

One question remains in my head... why did you bump this thread? the OP was in 2003.
Don't thank me, thank the moon's gravitation pull! Post in My Journal and help me to not procrastinate!
I'm actually working on a story that revolves around a Hit-man. I think this setup would work better in that you have a motive for the killing, your hired to do it, and you don't have the tag of "serial killer" while I bet many would dispute that a hit-man is a "serial killer" you don't exactly have the line of saying your a serial killer right off the bat.

This isn't the road my story is taking, although the main character is a hit-man, I plan to fully flesh out him as a character rather just a mindless killer.

to me, the project of making a serial killer game seems challenging, yet, it is very interesting, because unlike the game called "Condemned", this game would reverse the main character, so instead of tracking down a serial killer... you are the serial killer!

It is not just a game anymore, it is much.. much more then that...
Anyone played Manhunt? While you don't kill innocents you do commit some horrible acts when killing people.

Hack a guy in the back of the neck with a crowbar and twist it out to the sounds of popping bones.
Stab a guy in the neck with a large piece of broken glass and watch him bleed to death.
Bust someones face and skull open (literally) with a well placed shot from a baseball bat.
Saw a head off with piano wire.

I haven't played the second game but the first was quite good.

Hey MillaTime,

I allways thought this was a great concept for a game and (if ur planning on starting development on an initial version) I'd like to offer my help. Im doing a games tech-art course at the moment so I got some skills, not just talking out my ass. Could do some 3d modeling, textures, concept doc/art stuff etc.
If your not planning on kicking up some initial version development/planning then I am ... in which case would you like to help out? Ive got some other mates that good along the games art/animation etc and may have some ok programming contacts but will be needing more.
If your serious about this thing then gimme mail at onlyhadonebullet@hotmail.com,

To contribute my 2 cents, visionaries always cop flak for pissing off the great unwashed and computer games are in existence for entertainment and escapism, to provide new experiences that we cant (or wont in this case) go through in meatspace (real life), they are here to free your will and mind and provide you with complete personal freedom without encroaching upon other's personal freedoms.
We all have primal murderous urges and curiousities, expressing them in a harmless, socially acceptable method is crutial to healthy mental development and proccess, much more so than denying them completely, sweeping them under the rug, insisting that they are "evil" and developing a neurosis over it.

Hahaha epic story. Hell, I'd buy that. I like this idea, but as it's been mentioned, the media won't. But fuck the media. Everyone who owns GTA has been on a suicidal maniac serial killing rampage, they can deny it all they want. It's fun.

Old topic, but a relevant idea, especially with games like GTA that have now bridged that 'socially acceptable' gap somewhat. And the technology available now is more than enough for your game to be a realistic concept. You don't need 100,000 houses accessible, just ones that matter - if you have a story like 'adventuredesign' suggested, you could keep it mission-specific but still semi-freeroam, just like GTA (in San Andreas I've heard you can rob random houses, I've never been bored enough to try it, but if that's true and the houses aren't mission-specific, that's a perfect example of what I'm talking about).

Goodluck giving the finger to the churches and the media if you or anyone else follows through with an idea like this, if no one else on the planet buys the game, I will :)
i wouldn't play it my opinion
If you can make it fun, I'd definitely play it. It all depends on the gameplay, we all have morals and such, but I doubt most people would not pick up a fun game, if they're into games.

You'd have to make it interesting though, just a plain serial killer on a rampage isn't gonna attract many people, but then again... the sims were just a random family.
