What's the best 3d game engine?
Does anyone know of a good and reliable 3d game engine? I''m trying to find an engine to host my Turn Based RPG game (Atlantis Star).

go check out OGRE. I haven't used it, but I've heard that, and it looks pretty cool. Its open source and free and can be found right here. Also, you might want to check out the Torque game engine. I've read over the specs, and it looks pretty nice. It costs $100 for a liscense and can be found here. Hope that helps.
Good luck!

Also worth looking at Crystal Space which is precisely as free as OGRE (both are under LGPL), but has slightly different characteristics. At the moment, I''m trying to choose between them - the Crystal Space tech demo was more impressive, but OGRE handled landscapes better (as of late December - both have probably moved on since then)
2_nomad_: DOOM3 is sell today (cost: about 950 000 $), so it`s very difficult to buy him, but it`s not impossible
And I think for turn-based RPG it`s not need Q3 or UnrealEngine, there are many good (and cheap) engines such as Blitz, 3D GameStudio. They are not very quickly, but for Turn-based it`s not very need.

I''ve tried 3d gamestudio. I thought it was very limited so I canceled my development program for it. Anyone know of something that takes high quality and hardly has any limits.

if you have the money, go for Quake 3 engine! (or maybe wait for Doom3? :D )

You''re looking at $150,000.

$150,000? Yikes! I could almost buy a brand new Cessna Skyhawk 172R for that. I''d rather buy the plane!

Check out NeoEngine at neoengine.sf.net . It's LGPL and it is really easy to use. The main developer is very kindly person and will answer all your questions.

I personally really like the Cry-Engine, though you probably can't afford it as well...
Or the Codecreatures one, don't know about licensing here though.
