Good vs. Evil... no, not that discussion.
Walkingcarcass, sounds like karma to me. Try to find a short Flash piece called "Karma Ghost". I saw it on Newgrounds. Neat little movie, and had a funny interpretation of the luck system you describe.
Just make the player''s actions have significant, clearly visible consequences, and let the player be his/her own moral judge. Well, for some games the character or story may dictate something specific, but I prefer more open-ended games with a lot of freedom, even if it means a lot more work.
The feeling of having accomplished something without doing bad things is reward enough in itself. I don''t need a hefty sum of gold or a new, cool gun. But sometimes I think it''s fun to play evil just to see what happens.
And I wholy agree with entivore that games shouldn''t be just black and white. It gets a lot more interesting when it''s unclear who are good and who are the bad guys.
