Help with making a game quality tree

Have already done that and count find anything as far as trees.
Please post only if you have info, not search engines.
there was a news post on flipcode or gamedev (maybe both) recently about a tree creation program called treemagik. I downloaded it to take a look, and it''s quite cool.

Looking at the trees in treemagik, it''s quite easy to see how they''re modelled. They''re a low poly 3d trunk with a bunch of billboards stuck on at various points.

I suggest you download it and take a look.

This is a good site its where I learn to do most of my stuff.
Usually a tree I just start with a cube then extrude it. I place all the leaves on myself unless its a tree with a ton of leaves.
The most popular technique nowadays is to model the trunk, create a texture which has multiple leaves and an alpha-map, then just place that texture onto quads around the branches.

Fairly cheap to render, easy to do, and it looks good.
