Where do I start?
I am interested in game design, (I hope I didn't make myself sound like too much of a newbie)but have no clue where to start. It would be nice if someone could point me in the right direction that would be nice.

Theres this nice link at the top of the page called "For Beginners", just my two cents
Its not knowing the path but walking it.

yes, I know, but to tell ya the truth I didn't get too much from it (maybe I just have a thick skull)maybe I'll try and go through it again, but I found a lota stuff to be common sense stuff for complete beginners anyways, that or the info they gave tended to be vague and boring, which turned me off from game design. I've found a language I want to use and am learning it slowly but I'm getting around to it. I'm just kinda interested in seeing how, well.... other people started out with their venture into game programming and maybe then I could pick out little ideas from what they did and apply them too myself.

buy a book
i went to my local chapters when i decided i wanted to start my journey down the road and found a book called "windows game programming for dummies" written by Andre LaMothe. It has everything i needed to know in it to get me started with simple games. once i''m done going through this book and studying it from cover to cover till its completely ingrained into my mind.. then i''ll buy some books on more advanced programming and do the same thing with those. also, to speed up the learning process of c++, i bought a few books covering that language to help me along.
so just go to a local book store and splurge on books

Whoa, heh I completely forgot I had that book its been so long since I was overly interested in game programming. It sucks though I don''t have any real local bookstore, well I do but very little selection so I have to order over the net and stuff, thanks. I guess I''ll start going throught that book again.
And if you are looking for a good game to be your first, I would suggest a Console Based Tic-Tac-Toe game using ASCII characters.
This isn''t too difficult to do, yet teaches what must go into a game, such as user input, looping, basic AI, etc.
Good luck!
