Hey Cadets,
Hope you northern hemisphere folk are having a good summer. Here’s another monthly update on Raygun Gadabout. Hope you like it!
New Enemy
This is a Wokel.
This guy isn’t that dangerous, unless he touches you, probably because his skin is poison or maybe he gives incredibly strong hugs. Just don’t touch him either way, don’t let your curiosity get the best of you. He’s very slow, just shoot him in the face from a safe distance.
Target practice
Although, if you come across the female Wokel turn and run for the hills. Seriously, she will bite your head off.
Combat / UI Updates
There’s a few things to go over here, I’m pretty excited about this stuff!
Reflected Projectiles
Projectiles in general now will come in a few colour flavours. (Of course these colours could change in the future)
RED: Friendly
GREEN: Enemy
PURPLE: Puzzle / Harmless
There are probably those who would argue that RED and GREEN should be switched. Or maybe good should be BLUE.
Well you’re wrong.
My crack team of scientists scienced the heck out of it in our fancy lab and it’s pretty conclusive.
Raygun Gadabout Sciencing Department hard at work
In all seriousness, it’ll probably get changed at some point. BLUE (Good) and RED (Bad) would seem the most natural and it would probably be more friendly to the colour blind.
Shields and reflecting oh my!
Enemies With Shields
Worked on adding shields to certain enemies, they can reflect the projectiles back at you.
Also, the projectiles speed up a bit each time! I’m still messing aroud with the speeds to make it reasonable to handle when things get hectic. The first time an enemy projectile reflects off an enemy shield it actually slows down.
Shield Strength and Health Bars
So ya! Enemies now have health and/or shield bars. And shield can regenerate after a short time, so blast that alien scum before he can. Or you can go up and melee him. Shields can’t block melee attacks.
In Conclusion
That’s all for now cadets! Thanks as always for stopping by and until we meet again!
