Hello and welcome to this weeks Dev Diary, the short version!
Last week went by mostly with being with my wife during her vacation, which we both needed apparently much more than we thought. Still, I took some time to advance the RTS project on paper at least, by;
- (On paper) Figuring out some of the current shortcomings of the mechanics plans and improving upon them, taking some inspiration from modern titles of various genres.
- (On paper) Possibly improving the engagement factor of the game design, making it easier to approach for casual players but still enjoyable for more advanced players as well.
- (On paper) Rounding up more ideas in the mix, to see how they could fit in the whole and what could make the whole game better in the future. Many of which are to be pondered upon at a later stage.
As mentioned by many developers, throwing around ideas is a part of the development process and does not mean that every single one of them are to be used in any tangible way in the final product. This means that these kinds of updates are by nature very common and will be one of the more plentiful updates in the future also, as ideas either evolve or are discarded along the way. I would encourage everyone to be brave with their ideas and see where they lead them, as being too afraid to try out things, is one of the things that limits a persons creativity. Often times, one bad idea might have some grain of fun with it, that can be combined with another idea and make it much more appealing than what it was without the other idea - ideas are malleable, combinable and thus, almost infinite by nature, use that to your advantage.
a Quick Tip for Earning (Some) Development Funds.
In short, with Brave Browser you can;
- Send to- and Receive tips from users and other creators, who wish to support your project.
- Earn small amounts of Basic Attention Tokens (convertible for real money) from every Brave-compliant advertisement you see, while browsing the internet.
- Block harmful and/or unwanted advertisement (seems to work even on YouTube, after a quick test)
- Earn referral rewards from every user you refer to use Brave Browser, who use the browser regularly for at least a month.
- Make your browsing experience more private - Brave-Compliant advertisement doesn't mine your data.
If you haven't already, it would be a good time to take your browsing experience to a new stage, with Brave Browser. Brave aims to change the advertisement industry by making advertising more user friendly, private and secure, by not sending user statistics to external servers, but offer ads based on your local browser history and cookies, essentially erasing the need for active data-mining, allowing you to keep your browsing data to your self. Additionally, you can choose to not see any ads at all, or earn tiny sum from every Brave-compliant advertisement you see while you browse the internet.
You can also include your Reddit page, YouTube page, or many other personal social site as your content distribution channels, allowing people to send Tips on any of them. I personally have my Reddit and YouTube channels registered with “Brave Verified Creator” -status.
YouTube creators can now earn BAT for their content
audiences can use the Brave Payments system to reward their favorite YouTube creators with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT). YouTube viewers can either distribute contributions based on the time they spend viewing material or by “pinning” a set amount for a particular channel. Previously, the BAT could only be distributed on a domain-by-domain basis.
One of the most known services among gamers, that is a Brave Verified Creator, is Nexus Mods, which many of you might be familiar with.
For more information, you can visit this link; https://brave.com/?ref=aqu945 and at the same time, if you choose to use the browser as your main browser for a month, you are also supporting Project Taival with your choice, while costing you nothing. You can use the same opportunity to spread the word and earn referral fees for your self also.
You can check out every possible mid week announcements about the project on these official channels;
