I attended the Flash Gaming Summit this morning because Seyi was drunk with lack of sleep and ended up missing his flight out to San Francisco last night... and not just one either. But I'll let him tell you about that story for your enjoyment.

The FGS is being put on by Mochi Media, and is the first pre-GDC event I have ever attended. I'm sure there were others in the past but I never heard of them. Maybe there were none and this is the first time a summit has preceded in advance of GDC. I'm not sure exactly why this wasn't included in GDC proper like the rest of the summits - perhaps they wanted to start small and only do one day, perhaps they could only get enough speakers for one day, perhaps they just didn't want developers going to anything else, and people are usually in town by Sunday anyways.

Whatever the reason, the FGS is on and it is packed to the brim with developers and publishers from the Flash gaming world. I'm probably one of the very few anti-social people at the moment no talking to anyone - this entire room is abuzz with people making connections and sharing ideas. It's awesome.

This mornings talks were both panel sessions, which I hate to the very depths of my soul as far as coverage goes. I recorded them via audio, but then I forget who said what and have trouble recognizing voices. Bah. So I wasn't paying much attention but from what I heard offhand they found some good panelists, and the moderators seemed to be on track and keeping things interesting. Next week during our full writeup period I'll attempt to glean more insight from the panel sessions for you.

Looks like I'll be here for the afternoon sessions as well, which I hadn't planned on but I still can't get a hold of Seyi so I don't know if he's even landed yet. He says he boarded at 7am this morning but, knowing his luck he's been sitting on the taxiway for the past 5 hours.
