Quick update before I hop back into the IGS for two more lectures before the conference lets out for the day. I was at the IGDA chapter leaders workshop where we discussed the new initiatives the organization is undertaking to formalize the chapter system. Amidst much friendly bickering we covered several key subjects such as what happens when a chapter officer oversteps his authority or the IGDA doesn't provide adequate chapter support; how many people does it take to formulate a chapter; how grant proposals should be submitted so chapters can ask for additional monies from the IGDA; you know - boring legislative stuff :P
The cool part was getting to announce the results of the very first chapter election held by the NJ chapter over the last week. I was in charge of tallying up the votes and out of 5 candidates 4 were chosen to serve as chapter coordinators in various roles. This is the first step towards officiating a chapter, followed by determining chapter by-laws and then signing the contract with the IGDA. Exciting times.
Finally, I met up with the Introversion folk - Mark, Tom and Vicky - since I missed their talk in the IGS. Hopefully I'll get a chance to sit down with them this week and get some info on the indie scene in the UK and what they're up to lately. Looking forward to that because they're a great bunch.
Okay, time to head back into the IGS...
