I know how to do programming in C++ but I quess I dont understand how to make games. Can someone(DO NOT SAY FOR BEGINNERS)spell out how do do things like graphics, ect. thanks for your patience
solution 1: post in For Beginners forum

solution 2: read For Beginners section of site. then read NeHe's tutorials which you can find in Articles & Resources section

reality: posting in For Beginners section will give you suggestions like solution 2. no one's going to give you the answers.

(yay, i said For Beginners 3 times. does it still count if i don't capitalize it?)

1) Learn a graphics/gaming API (OpenGL, DirectX)
2) Think of an easy game you think you could make
3) Think of how you can put the game into code
4) Put the game into code
5) If the code doesn''t work, curse loudly, then return to to step 3
6) Compile game
7) Play game
if you truly know how to program, and grasp the basic fundamentals. you will have no problem pulling out any graphic api tutorial and get started on the fast track to game development. google will assist your search for info you may need. heck, the dx sdk samples should be suffiucent for a basic game to gt you started. after completely the basics, come back and ask more specific questions.

You found one of the best sites on the 'net to learn game programming. First, check out the resources section to see if there's any articles that catch your eye. There is quite a few helpful ones that deal with gaming.

If you're new to making games, try making a simple game like pong or Tetris - just to see how things work out, then work up from there. If you feel brave, you might want to download some of the code from an older game, like Heretic, Doom, Quake, Descent, etc.

Good luck!

thanks!
