Apologies if this is definitely the wrong place to ask this. After much research and few findings, I thought I would ask this community for some advice.

I am trying to find out a few things about Ableton Live - what is it programmed in (C++ I think), and how did they create the customizable UI like they have? I am curious to know the design around custom widgets, the real-time threading model, and how external plugins are rendered - does anybody have any advice on how to start thinking about building something like this?
