Multicast article
I just read the multicast article, which was interesting but doesn''t say anything about how to register a multicast IP.
You''ll need either a dynamically registered address (for game server to clients multicast) or a static address (for "master server" replacement). How do you get those?
I searched with google but all I could find was a few obscure RFCs.
I don''t know what would happen if you try to use random addresses. From what I understand of the protocol it could work in some cases but that''s obviously not the right thing to do as conflicts will happen sooner or later.
