Looking for critique on my new techno song "Endless Courage".

Hey guys, Young Prodigy here. I recently wrote an anime-inspired techno track called "Endless Courage". I would describe it as something you would hear in an anime or a DDR game.

You can listen to the track here:

Any critique would be welcome.

I'm not a music expert so the best I can do is describe how it made me feel and what I could imagine it being played too.

Definitely anime as you said, I actually could imagine the piano part going on longer and being part of a town music on an RPG for example or during an emotional cut scene, I wanted the piano bit to go on a lot longer. In a way it didn't feel to me like it belonged as in the transition didn't flow for me from Piano to Techno but the rest of it flowed seamlessly to me.

Then when the next bit comes in at 13s it screams end credits to me or we've arrived at some funky kind of steam punk city. That said, when we get to 1.00 I could imagine that part being faster and then I feel like I'm in battle mode.

I hope this is helpful in some way.

Cool track, the composition seems fine but there are some mixing issues. The piano is really muddy when it comes back later in the song. The high synth part is a bit piercing, I would roll it off a bit. Finally for a techno track the bass doesn't have that 'thump' feel to it. I would compress the bass, then bring it up more, and then maybe transpose it up maybe 50-100hz. Right now it just comes off as a bit flat, but with some tweaks it could sound really good.

Thanks for the critique man. So by muddy; do you mean its just hard to hear or is it the sample that's muddy?

And as for the bass; if I just boost it would that be enough?

Also, when you talked about the synth part; are you referring to the intro synth or the synth that plays the main melody?

The synth and the piano are both fighting for the same key frequency range so it sounds very dull/flat/muddy. Some automated EQ will make it part of the track where they are working with each other instead of against each other.

Maybe but probably not, that thumping bass sound will require a bit of work to get right.

Synth for the main melody
