usually ideas are spewing outa me like water outa water hose. but lately iv been blank, and when i do think of something its something that's been done a million times!
any tips or advice guys?
lately my creative juices have died! ;((( need some help!
Have you tried drugs? Kidding, kidding.
When I want to be inspired, I take a walk. Or look at something relevant to what you'd like to do. If you want to design a Medieval RTS, look into fortress design, seige engines, and such.
Don't try to do something just because it hasn't been done. Revolutionary ideas are something that spring from conviction, not reaction.

There are probably a lot of articles on this regarding writing etc, but I'll give it a crack. A few ideas below:
- Take a break. Do something you don't normally do to get the juices flowing. Take a dance lesson. Try rock climbing. Play minigolf. Go to a restaurant you've never been to before. Go for a drive and get lost on purpose (and bring a map or GPS so you can get un-lost).
- Give yourself some crazy limitation for your ideas. Come up with a game idea where the player has no game avatar. Or can choose their path but never go back. Or where geometry affects sounds and vice versa.
- Pick a genre that you normally wouldn't touch. Try to do it in your own style. Maybe do a FPS in interactive fiction style. Or vice versa.
- Pick an unlikely hero. Maybe take one of your favourite movies and try to make a story around the least important character in it. How could you flesh it out and give them their own story?

You reminded me. I suggested to get crazy, but perhaps only as a prototype to get the juices flowing. Not as a 3 year game project. ;)
Read the "Kick In The Seat of the Pants" and "A Whack on the Side of the Head" series of books by Roger Von Oech.
They're excellent creativity sparkers.

lol I feel you. I just made a clicking game that launches a macro file and plays itself....for some reason.

When you look at clouds, are you still seeing shapes ? Artists work like this, painting some vague shapes to see a potential piece of art.
So, try to start implementing one of your older ideas, once you make progress you will start seeing new potential, new ideas are coming up, that at least works for me (though the result is often feature creep ...)
