lately my creative juices have died! ;((( need some help!
Ideas for game settings I usually borrow from manga or stories I read (most of the time while reading a story I come across an event in it or some description which gets me thinking on what a world would be like if there was something like the thing that caught my mind in it). For abstract puzzle or arcade games I pick a game mechanic and try to develop the concept trying to see where it would lead me. And sometimes I start with the goal of making a game that would allow the player to develop certain skills that could be helpful in real life (after all, skill development is what games excel at).
On the other hand you might have entered the walking dead via too much bud hence the need to do this post seeking brains to service....your newfound zombieness.
However the 2 books Tom mentioned are very good. Another side of the coin is to cut up a magazine of words and pictures - draw a random sample and endeavour to create a linking story.
Note: This linking story should not be: I cut up a magazine and drew a random sample of words and pictures. The End.........that way lies the zombieness

Inspiration comes best when you're not slacking off. But remember to walk if you don't have to run, sit if you don't have to stand, lay down if you don't have to sit up and eat, sleep & love deliciously every chance you get. (hope no one minds these butchered quotes;) Oh and play and be sure to play lots. This is the business of fun, what good are you if you don't know how to play? I hope you got you're groove back, otherwise this has been a long dry spell and I know those can be hard. Take care!
