i would rather write my own engine, since i don''t believe that anyone else can create one that would fit my exact specification... plus, i''d have to learn how to use the engine, whereas if i wrote it i would already know.

Hmmm... I missed this one. Technically, it''s not Game Design, but it''s been here for a couple of days so I''ll leave it. In the future, though, I''d like to try to keep things as on topic as possible. Inasmuch as engines relate to design, it''s fine, otherwise Game Design isn''t the best place.
