Well, England are now out.

4-1 at the time of writing, I wouldn't be shocked if more went in because the England defense has been utterly utterly shocking.

I guess I over estimated our defense when I was going my write up earlier; next time I'll remember to allow for the quality of the teams we are playing...

The Germans are playing some classy football though. Its very enjoyable to watch their sweeping attacks. Their later games will be interesting.

I wonder if the disallowed English goal will convince the upper Fifa officals to consider using technology to help the referees.

Yeah, can't take anything away from the Germans, this has been a great performance by them against some really bad opposition.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but the first German goal was offside as well. During the broadcast, they showed a side view of when the goalie kicked it, and 2 German players were offside.

Apprently you can't be offside from a goal kick (according to a comment made on the BBC)

Is it time for FIFA to introduce a fifth referee to serve as a "booth official" to review video replays of crucial moments in a match? In more snarky terms, how many feet passed the goal line does the ball have to travel before the refs will call it a goal?

I missed the match, does anyone have link where they show the highlights or at least all the goals? Nothing has shown up on YouTube yet, and it will probably be taken down almost immediately anyway due to broadcasting rights. Must be accessible from a French IP.
