How often you drink?

It varies, like others have said, sometimes I'll drink nightly, sometimes not for weeks. I usually prefer rum and coke (Sailor Jerry is my favorite rum) or something with vodka, I don't drink beer that often but if I do I get what I like and not just some cheap Bud or something, I really like Guinness or New Castle. Sometimes I drink with friends but more often I drink by myself.
I also have a slight preference for rhum. It's somewhat irrational, I like almost everything way more. Jack is good. but I often end up buying rhum. I suppose the price premium is a factor.
Cheap beer has recently become truly annoying to me.

I drink very rarely. Mostly because I have to drive. My friends are truly unconscious of the risks of getting drunk on the road and I am unfortunately very aware of the possible consequences.
I am pretty sure most ppl here on gamedev does not need to be recalled on this, but please, make sure to drink responsibly.

I have to complete a a deliverable for 23. I'll then aim for constant alcholic intoxication for at least a week...

There is a micro brewery complete with brew master in my alma mater's student union. This followed the standard "University Rathskeller" design pattern. Although I can't recall if I could purchase beer with my meal plan...

Because they are warmer - no joy tonight regardless. All good.

I'll return to my game programming - shall resist HU-MON-E-MO-TION

Who needs hot girls and stuff when there is DirectX 11 tessellation and compute shaders, I can wet myself in a pool of geometric sexulation all into the night :-o :-o

I know, girls and drinking take valuable time away from you that could be used for making games.

To be honest, I drink to get drunk. So usually cheap American lager type stuff or vodka and Fresca if at home and at the bar whatever the drink special is. Might as well get it done as quickly as possible to get your drunken grinding on.

I want to make sure we're not running into a language barrier here. Are you saying that there were places one could go on university grounds and purchase alcoholic beverages? Hell, my university didn't even allow the consumption of alcohol on campus. While that is thankfully not especially common in the US, I'm not aware of any universities that sell alcohol on premises.

Are you seriously trying to tell me you can have a university without a bar?

Mind=blown

I was on first name terms with all the college barstaff by the end of my degree. A group of mates and I once worked out that between the 4 of us, we could probably have bought a house for the amount of money we spent in the bar during college [sad]

if you think programming is like sex, you probably haven't done much of either.-------------- - capn_midnight

What's the point of having a house if you didn't enjoy your life until you got it?

I mean, a house will give you shelter but it won't give you a life.

I've only been to a handful of colleges but none of them had a bar on campus. Now at my school there were a couple that were a couple hundred feet from the edge of campus.

Probably something to do with how drinking is more ingrained in European family culture then in the US. And consisdering drinking age is 21, by the time you can drink most students are on their way out of college anyway. Underage drinking is already rampant in colleges (I know, I helped my fair share age challegned people in school) that a campus bar getting busted for underage drinking would be a PR nightmare for the entire school.

oh yeah, I forgot about the different drinking ages. Makes more sense, I guess.

Although having a drinking age of 21 is something which I am philosophically opposed to. IMHO, either you are an adult at 18 or you're not. If you're old enough to vote, be in the army and so on, you're old enough to make up your own mind about drinking.

A few people in my family drink, which in part turned me off to it.

After watching my oldest brother get hammered when I was young, about the same time of Red Ribbon Week or some other drug awareness event, I was scared sober for life.

Later I had friends who were binge drinkers and had some serious complications.(Yeah, it's Utah, but kids still drink.)

There are the immediate and obvious problems of blackouts and memory loss, plus the long-term problems of liver disease and alcohol–related brain damage.

This is just reinforced whenever I hear thinks like multiple recent studies on alcohol-related brain shrinkage even from light/moderate occasional drinking. I did laught at one statement in that particular article: "the study did not demonstrate that the smaller brain volume actually impaired memory or mental function". Some people are just as stupid with a big brain as they are with a smaller brain. :-)

Put me in the firmly "No" category. Pass me the Dr Pepper and its empty caloires.

That is the fun part :)
It's like a jig-saw puzzle, except with the events of the previous night. You just need help putting the pieces together.

"Wait, I did what?"
"Dude, you took your bike and rode it around in circles for a while. Eventually you rode it straight into a bush going as fast as you could, which you proceeded to crawl out of, and then pee all over."
"Really?"
"Yea, it was hilarious!"
"I was wondering why I had scratches all over my arms and why my bike stinks!"

My brain is on fire. I've been sleeping little at night and having lots of hours at work with heavy social interaction. I'm exhausted but I just can't stop. I could really use a bottle of fine whisky (actually, at this point, *any* whisky would do).

Do you drink? What you like drinking the most? What are the moments you best enjoy having a good booze?

huh, I need to kill "evil-cells" every friday :))
