favourite rts of all time?
i am glad you all took part and you all seemed to be quite enthusiastic(spelling?) about this :D
Game Development Tutorials - My new site that tries to teach LWJGL 3.0 and OpenGL to anyone willing to learn a little.
Warcraft 2, then Starcraft which was pretty much a refinement of Warcraft gameplay. Starcraft was probably the best RTS I've played from a perspective of both gameplay and overall design quality. (Terrans, represent!)
C&C Generals was a good bit of fun. It was over the top, but not /completely/ absurd; and the most multiplayer I ever got out of a C&C game.
Haven't played anything since SupCom (Oh, Total Annihilation, you were good for LANs. What happened?)
I fear that Starcraft 2 will consume my soul.

It should be noted that all of you who put anything other than Ground Control first are wrong [razz] [grin]

TA. Favorite not yet mentioned: Z (gameplay video)
just wanted to come in to mention Z, but you where first.
I never got over the first level, but it was hours of fun. every other rts is crap compared to it :)

Favorite to play: Starcraft
Favorite to tinker with: Total Annihilation. Nothing like having the Enterprise starship (with working deflector shield!) team up with a transforming Optimus Prime in a shootout against Ferenghi Marauders and Romulan Warbirds.
There's nothing more fun than a ladder game.
And you can mod TA to the point where it's barely even the same game. That thing was way ahead of it's time. I never really realized it back when I first started playing.
Another vote for AoE2. Admittedly there is too much micromanagement at times, but the game has an "epic" feel to it that I think is lacking in many other RTS's (including AoE3). I still sometimes play AoE2 with a group of friends.
Quote: Original post by davepermenIt gets a whole lot harder if you manage to get past the first world, I don't remember properly but am pretty sure I never managed to finish it back in the day. I think I might see if I can dig out my game cd and find out if I can get it working again.
