Easy; Ground Control

Bought it years ago and still have yet to play it. Might give it a whirl.

Incidentally, some time ago they re-released the original as a free download. Not sure if the download still works but the link is still there.
Command and Conquer '95, purely for nostalgia reasons.

I dearly loved the original Red Alert. But I think the gameplay in Dawn of War is fantastic, games are so much more action focused.
Any Age of Empires was good. Starcraft was also a good game, and Rise of Nations.
Rise of Nations was similar yet different than Age of Empires, and was a good game.
For Warcraft III, I never really played the campaigns; I just went online for custom maps. :P

I agree with most of you on the Age of Empires 2 expansion. Would anyone be up for a game sometime? Maybe we can arrange a little gamedev ladder tourney or even a fun 4v4?

Haha sign me up!

Easy; Ground Control

Stunning graphics, even now, good story, simple control system and the first game I encountered which used squad based play rather than single unit selection. Couple that with 'the only assets you have are the ones you drop in with' and a real focus on tactical play there hasn't been a game since which is as good.

Quoted for truth. Though I never played the main game nor the add on to the end. One of the most friggin features/feelings was when you think you can take a breathe for a moment or so, and then suddenly discover a horde of silent and far artillery projectiles stabbing into the air and coming nearer.

Also, not sure if this is your classical RTS, but Operation Flashpoint, of which I played every add-on twice in both difficulty levels, (and even now I play it every now and then under wine) has my definite vote.

Further, if we take the definition Real Time Strategy word by word, the Silent Hunter series gets my support.

Sidenote: Okay, this is not an RTS, but all those are nothing compared to the infernal Civ III, which gets never old.

Supreme Commander - For its common-sense usability decisions. Strategic zoom, build and unit queuing, ferrying and a lot of other little elegant usability additions are great strives forward for the RTS genre.

Unfortunately for game it was created around didn't have much charm. Most people I know hated the art style and it was in truth a game made for multiplayer, which considering it brings most peoples computers it it's knees even now could've gone better.

Starcraft - For it's character and charm. A well balanced game with a story that was interesting to see unfold and be a part of from all three sides.

I haven't played many rts games, but I loved Sacrifice.
