Please Try my Game
Hi, I have downloaded this game. And itz cool, even though the graphic needed some work, but over all it was fun to play. I just think some are the othe ppl who downloaded the game and mess up their computer are having problem with their own computer, and just got so frustrated that they want to have something else to blame it on. And the game was the perfect thing to blame on for the computer''s fault. The guy say that he had check the game in about 30 other computers and it worked fine, so I think other ppl''s computer just can''t handel downloads or something.
quote:No offense or anything, but I''ve been working as a hardware/networking tech for 8 years and I''ve never seen a piece of software cause bad blocks on a hard drive - not even viruses. Data loss, corruped files, trashed Windows, etc. But bad blocks come from the hardware levels that you wouldn''t have access to unless your messing with some really low level assembler type of stuff and even then it''s pretty hard to make a hard drive do that. Have you run some diags on the hd to make sure its not the cause of your problems? Also, if your hard drive has bad blocks, you can probably get a replacement for nothing if its still under warranty.

Most commercial games have crashed too at some point.

BetaShare - Run Your Beta Right!
Running on my antiquated machine(400MhzPII,Voodoo3,SB32,96MgRAM,Windows98).
Everything seems to work as intended. I know you didn''t want to hear about the graphics,
but like some other ppl hear said;higher resolution!
I also thought the action could be faster (y''know what I mean?).
Good job. Maybe I''ll be able to make something like that when I grow up!

Software can cause hardware to malfunction by configuring the speed of a certain device to excessive speeds, for instance a piece of software could tell the HDD controller to go at DMA100 speed when the HardDisk and/or controller is only capable of DMA33, causing a tranisitor burnout, though the only software that does this are viruses, I dont think CPlasmaGun would create a game just to destroy everyones system...
The bad blocks were already on the HDD but they were simply not noticed until the game was installed and ran on them, and since Windowz does not handle data errors very well, the ''puter spewed and corrupted the data or the HardDisk''s heads decided to give up. Do a low-level format (HDFAT, WIPEHDD) on the HardDisk, sometimes the Bad blocks are just a data alignment issue.

Hello,
Sometimes I have seen ScandDisk doesn''t show you have bad blocks until you write something very important over them, or you run someone else game
.
Any way, there are not system crashes that justifies your offensive language Psycodude, not without a prove. Maybe it was a virus you downloaded from somewhere (as you said you not even scan the programs you download), and you started insulting a guy who spended countless hours developing a game with the only goal to bring fun, but maybe I''m wrong and your language is the new civilized way to comunicate your feelings.
Hey CPlasmaGuns, excellent virus the one you wrote!
PS: Take care, the FBI-CIA-DEA are looking for ya.
Search and you''ll find, ask and you''ll receive.

Sorry for posting the message I did using the foul language, I apoligize. But I still stand firm that that game played a role in making my computer crash and get cryptic foul error''s. I dont download or run .exe files from the net with the exception of this game or other large demo''s from reputable sites which rules out a pre-exhisting virus. As another poster pointed out having to reset my computer is probably the cause of my hard drive issues, but the reason I strongly feel that game is at fault is because of the game resolution messing with my display after the game was ended. My desktop remained at that rez until it completely froze. Sure windows app''s freeze or get screwed up and need to be closed using ctrl alt del, but rarely does windows completely freeze unless it has serious issues such as reading from a bad disk or such. My system had been running flawlessly before running that game. The poster before me also complained of the game freezing. Just because nobody else had problems doesn''t mean there is nothing wrong. You should know that evil bugs can remain hidden for months even years before affecting the app. But again sorry for being an asshole, once windows starts getting corrupted it seems to lead to more and more problems and I really hate that.
I would really suggest that the maker of the program take a look over the code, and make sure he released and unacquired all of the resources properly. If you are using DX, make sure that the directdraw object is released and set to NULL, you might even want to check and make sure DirectInput and DirectSound are all unaquired.

Psylocybe, I know how frusterating getting myserious errors like that can be, but with the number of people that have posted reporting no errors whatsoever, I don''t think the game demo is 100% at fault. Sure, before installing and playing the game, your computer may have run fine and dandy, but I''ve learned over the years of downloading, installing and using programs, that
certain software just don''t work together. Basically, certain software can''t coexsist on the same machine trouble free.
Basically, what I''m saying is that it is probably a combination of programs already on your computer and the game "not getting
along".
And I''ve had windows change my screen res and color for no apparant reason before. Again, maybe your windoze machine is infallable, but the rest of the human populations windoze machines certainly aren''t. :-)
