Is anyone else bugged by Apple's claim that MacBook Air is thinnest in the world?

Apple is still claiming their MacBook Air is the world's thinnest notebook. But it's not. The Voodoo Envy 133 is thinner than the MacBook Air (and I'm sure there are others too). Does this bug anyone else?

Not really. People often claim that they have the best/fastest/thinnest/lightest/heaviest/most attractive/best selling product in the world when really they haven't done an ounce of research or anything to prove it. It's called marketing, not absolute truth, for a reason.

I'm still waiting for a Mac commercial showing a Mac that actually does something other than just sitting there looking pretty.

Of course, I guess that's what my Mac does. Just sits there while my PC does all the work.

Anyone want to buy it? I have a fully licensed version of Office Mac 2007 for it as well.

Come on....anyone....

Sorry.....Just have those Mac purchasing regrets.
I know a friend who has to buy a macbook for his school. The network is completely just apple proprietary but they have to use notebooks for a lot of tasks (an artists school it is).

we where just looking around for macbooks and noted that right now (here in switzerland) they cost just 1000$ more for the same as a similar notebook.

so no, we're not really bugged by apples false claims. just by their prices (and that stupid school :)).

I'm pretty sure that the Vodo envy 133 came out AFTER the macbook air so...

just in case, the macbook air is 0 percent apple, but 100% intel work. :) they went to several vendors and apple was first in "yes, lets call that an apple :)"

So...? I'm not saying that the MacBook Air was never the world's thinnest. It very well may have been at one point. But the Voodoo Envy 133 is out now and "thinner than air" (as one reviewer put it), but the Apple website says "Yet still the world's thinnest notebook." But it's not anymore.

@davepermen: hmmm... that's very interesting.

Wait, just how thin is that voodoo Envy? I looked at the site but a thickness didn't jump out at me. Also looks like it is uniformly thick, so I'm sure the front edge of the macbook air is thinner. Also what is the average thickness, and total displacement of both notebooks?

But honestly, I'll assume this is mostly just apple's marketing department stuffing pillows over their heads and screaming "Lalalalalalala, we can't hear you" whenever someone points out they're wrong. And to be honest, their marketing has fewer lies than a lot of companies. At least the product they show LOOKS like what you get, unlike some other industries out there.

Be glad you didn't get post purchase rationalizations instead (and turn into total mac zealot of "macs are cheapest deal" kind.[lol])
Another debate over Macs is just what the Lounge needs right now.
