Hello All I work with a small group of game designers as sort of a hobby. We recently had to shelf a DirectX/C++ project due to our 3D artist backing out on us. While we wait for a new one to be found we have decided to dabble in XNA for some simple 2D games. As a group we know that when learning a new API the first project is not the place to be trying new things. With this knowledge in hand we have decided to learn the API by recreating old NES games. The NES game I decided to redo is my personal favourite Startropics. Ya I know remaking games is lame but it's a learning experience not a commercial product. Over the weekend I finished redoing most of the simple physics of mike jones's (the main character) movement. I pulled a 2D artist in to redo the sprites and I thought if I'm giving it a visual makeover why not an audio one too? Unfortunately my usual musician is not interested in this project and I am forced to look else where. So I'm looking for a musically inclined fellow who loves startropics and has time for a little project. For now I was only thinking of redoing the first chapter but if it turns out fantastic I may do more. You can hear some samples there. Most of that music was written 2 years ago or more but it reflects my style. Caribbean Night Light should interest you in particular for Startropics.
