Character animation problem

So we have a rigged character in soft image XSI. IK and everything. Our problem is we need it in Maya.. We tried just exporting from XSI as a .OBJ but when loaded up in maya it doesn't have the rigging on it. Any one know how to solve this problem. any help as greatly appreciated!
does xsi support .fbx? that, to my memory, will keep data like rigging.
