Hi,
I've been spending a lot of time working on all the c++ classes to support game play for a Tycoon type game. The program feeds off numerous data files for the moment. I intend on modifying the current editor later in the week. (NOTE: I've always done editors in VB6...so this will by first app in VB.NET).
At present (console version) you can move around the map, initial panning and mining operations for the valuable "crystals". The "accounting" is working quite nicely. "Ponies" may be added to mines to increase production. (NOTE: I saw old B&W photos of ponies being used inside mines when I visited a site in North Carolina.) Pre-programmed events such as single mine "explosions" and earthquake triggered collapses are easily introduced. These events impact the price of the red, green and blue crystals.
So the good news is the program will include a rich content of the 4 elements. :D
So, here's a console test screenshot (not very impressive...but full of necessary detail) followed by a 2D version. The 2D version was created before the console version. I hope to integrate the console files into the 2D framework before the end of January.
Jorge did most of the art int the following screenshot. He has left the project and has been replaced by Byl. Byl and I just completed our first contest program a couple of weeks ago (we placed 2nd...). You can see a screenshot here. http://www.chuckbolin.com/code.php It's the one with the winter scene.

Chuck
