Hi! I know this is not directly releated to programming but it is really driving me crazy so i hope someone in here can help me. I have just installed WindowsXP but it doesnt like my CD-ROM drives. Everytime i start Windows it tells me that it has found new hardware (my cdrom drives) but the drives dont work. And after a while Windows tells me that the drives have been removed. I cant use my cdrom drives in Windows2000 either but they work in WinME. Also, WindowsXP wont let me create files or folders with more than 8 charachters. Does someone know what could be wrong? -Thanks

Real programmers don't document, if it was hard to write it should be hard to understand

Yeah....your problem is that your using XP...

Stick with 2000 or linux

If the drive doesn''t work in Win2k, it''s not going to work in XP since XP is built on Win2k''s core. It could be a lack of drivers, or the actual hardware may not be supported. If you have a generic drive then I''d suggest trying to contact the manufacture or picking up a new name-brand one.
