I don't have time to listen to all of these, or better yet... the energy(it's 2am), but I did listen to Empire. I do agree that the song doesn't seem to go anywhere as far as a climax, or a "high-point" as mentioned by someone else... but it mostly is concerning the lack of any real dynamic changes in the music. Please don't take this the wrong way... it's constructive criticism, not an insult. The music merely get denser in orchestration, but dynamically stays the same. But for the most part, the sections where only a few instruments are playing, sounds just as loud as the sections with multiple instruments and percussion playing. Thus you have to no build up to anything. I'd try and incorporate some more dynamic shifts to really emphasize some of those denser sections of music. Let them shine, unless of course you meant for the dynamics to stay pretty consistent throughout. Your call. Otherwise it's a nice piece, has a somewhat regal sound to it... which considering the title of the piece, makes sense I reckon. ;)
Keep it up, if I get time I'll listen to some more.
Peace,
Zack

RPG music...
Thanks for the comments Zack. I'll keep those thoughts in mind as I continue to work on the soundtrack.

nostalgia: that uncatchable dream that leads us to reminisce fondly of things that weren't that great to begin with.
Misc. theme
Heres a new one! Not sure if/how this is going to find its way into the game but I envision it being a theme that plays in a mountain pass or somesuch.

You know 'underneath the rotting pizza', from FF VII? This song could replace that one. I mean, the setting is the same. I could easily think of a slumdestrict in a huge poluted city when hearing this song.

What do I expect? A young man's quest to defeat an evil sorceror while discovering the truth of his origins. A plucky youngster attended by her brutish guardian. A powerful artifact which has been broken into a small number of artifactlets distributed around the world. What do I want? Fewer damn cliches. - Sneftel
Another one I started I got started on this evening. I am just letting my imagination run wild right now!
Tower Theme
I will probably re-arrange the track to a have a slower more mysterious tone.

Quote: Original post by stennylol. Interesting idea. I think the fact that piece is extremely electronica might musically lend itself to the symbolism of urban decay... but I personally envisionised the country while writing the piece. :) Different strokes for different folks, I guess. :)

This is an orchestral reworking of a prior theme. Lots of string work and such. I hope it goes over well. :)

Every RPG has its fair share of adventure and conquest, but there is of course to be experienced an aspect of death and loss. I tried to convey that sense with this piece.
Theme of Sadness
Theme of Sadness
Wow...I see I've got a lot to listen to. Now let's see:
The Tower
Nice one! I think this one could be the best piece I heard from you (maybe the Town Theme above is the only one better). I don't know if you should have placed the percussion beneath it at 0:19, but now I'm listening to it for about some time it doés sound good. Just as with the accelerando in the Town Theme. Overall not really a Nobuo theme, more of one I'd place in Dragonquest.
Misc Theme, revamped
Haha! I still think of this as urban background music! Now you mentioned the countryside I think I could find myself in this, but still the slumdistricts seem more natural to me. But after all, I think good music is always appropriate in different places. Just like with names, you always get used to them, now matter how weird they are (Final Fantasy XII Anyone? Basch? xD)
Glory and Honor (Where the heck is the "/cheese" for?)
Hmmm...Do you really want to use this as a battle theme in the sense of, random encounter battle in Final Fantasy? In that case I think you failed :(. Those battle themes normally have much more strength and power.
From the name of the file however, Wesnoth Battle, I can see this might be more of cutscene-music, and in that case you did a good job. Reminds me a bit of Oblivion, especially the intro.
Yup another one!
The file did not open!
Theme of Sadness
Good music, but not really 'sad' though. It is more laid back relaxing music. Imagine you're a black mage strolling through the forests of Tamriel (Oblivion), on a quiet wintermorning. Then this song'd be my choice. But after all, as I've said at the Misc Theme's comments, if this song'd played when a character dies or something, I could see that in front of me too.
General
As with the previous load of pieces, these are just as wonderful. Maybe you didn't nail down the exact idea behind the pieces (e.g. Theme of Sadness and the Misc Theme), but that doesn't even matter. They're still in the right place, and sound good. They set a mood, and that's what counts :).
