Game Library Needs What?

Ok, what exactly does a game library need to support? Please do not say "Just add whatever *you* need..." or similar. Please answer along the lines of: Input: ''''Direct Mouse Support and Interface. Or ''''Abstract Input Device Interface... etc.. Give me some Ideas, people...

A Game Engine would include ''rules'' for Avatar-Avatar & Avatar-Environment interactions.
