Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone practices pixel art with the older limits. That would be no blurr tool and low colorcount. I'm part of a growing pixel art community. I find it very enjoyable working with such limits. I make most of my sprites in MS paint. I just like the level of controll you get with placing pixels one at a time. I feel that there is more visual sharpness. I just love the look of the old Megadrive and Super NES games. I'm not saying that pixel art is perfect for every application, but I feel it's overlooked these days. My old works: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixels/profile.asp?pg=1&id=2109&sec=icons
well, for most stuff I pimp the MSpaint, but I don't restrict colors at all,

Anti-aliasing by hand is... um... less than awesome. Gradients just as so.

I work at Aristocrat (http://www.aristocrat.com.au/) and most of the artists here use giant graphics tablets, 3d max, photoshop etc... But theres a few oldies who have been "pixel picking" for decades and they are really good at it!
Most ppl draw their art at huge resolutions like 10,000sq pixels then resize to 100sq pixels for the final production resource, but these old school guys do the whole thing one pixel at a time at the final resolution!
Allways question authority......unless you're on GameDev.net, then it will hurt your rating very badly so just shut the fuck up.
I used to; MS Paint and nothing else. I worked at very low res (no higher than 512x512, usually around 32x32).

But like most other "oldies" as you may term it, I'm trying to move on into the 3d world (which clearly promises more in the current market).

I've done some extremely low-res monochrome pixel art for calculator games. You can see some of it here. I have yet to use them in any games though.

I think I'm most proud of my minimal mario sprites:

I've also made a calculator program to help design such art: Sprite Lab.
