piano four hands
does anyone have experience writing for piano four hands? I am making a piece that I think has a gorgues chord progression on piano but it takes two hands to play the chords. I dont want to add other instruments in to much because i want the chord progression to be clear. So I decided to go with piano four hands but I really dont know what I'm doing. I suppose I could break appart the chords and orchestrate the thing but that seems like a pain that may not even come out well. Also does anyone know any good forums for general composition discussions like this.

I would just write two sheets of music... one for each pair of hands and then one can play higher on the piano and one lower.
thanks, yeah that would make sense...I think Im going to wait for another piece to try out this arrangement though. Maybe start with something a little more basic which my current piece is not.

You generally will have a Primo and a Secondo part. For basic writing purposes, although you can have crossing parts, I would suggest for your first piece that you think of the two parts as bass and treble, or high and low.
In many of the four hand pieces that I have played, mosty Classical, Romantic and Impressionistic era pieces, (Not much 20th century) it is common to have the Primo part playing in two treble clefs, and the secondo part playing two bass clefs.
