new, good open source music library

For a couple years, I''ve been developing a game library that encompases all aspects of gaming.. in the beginning, MIDAS (the music library) was the cutting edge. Now it''s getting rather old and outdated. So I began the search for a new music library - one that supports S3M, XM, and IT modules, is free (or cheap), and has the source available (also free or cheap). The reason I need the source is because I need to modify it to fit within my project paradigm.. with my virtual file system, etc. FMOD and BASS are both good quality and fast, but they charge like $900 for the source code. MikMod is great quality and has the source available, but is terribly slow. MikMod uses about 45% cpu time with high quality mixing on my system (P3-500). In comparison, MIDAS, FMOD, and BASS use around 0.5-2% with the same mixer, sound modeling, and output settings. Other music systems I''ve found that are fast and open source don''t fully support IT modules. After much (too much) searching, I haven''t found anything good, so I''m asking anybody here if they know of something! Thanks a lot, Adam M.
