AMD T-Bird heat problem!!

Yes, I know this is in the wrong forum. But it''s really important. I got a new T-bird for X-mas, problem is it gets weird errors. After chatting on GameDev I got the information that it was running to hot. And that''s true the temp went up to 80''C It still works(Thank God for that). Anyway. I have a fan and a heatsink. But there was some kinda "Heatsink compound" with the heatsink. I think the problem is that it should be used somehow. How and where should it be used? There was no manual with the heatsink(It''s a Thermal Total Solutions heatsink). MindWipe

you smear the thermal compound on the side of the heatsync that touches the porcessor. It transfers heat betweek the processor and heatsync/fan.
