The inner workings of Guard-Banding
Hello,
I was wondering how GuardBanding works. For those not knowing what Guardbanding is read this document:

I''m not asking what the aim of Guardbanding is, cause I understand that. I want to know how it is implemented. Clearly it''s not a per-pixel test cause otherwise the guardband could be of infinite size (limited only by the size of the words used). But then again, maybe I''m wrong.
I was thinking about some sort of per pixel adress masking, that makes sure that all pixels outside of the screen are mapped to one and the same memory adress.
Any ideas?
